Have you ever made a judgment of someone or treated someone in a different way simply due to the way they look or act, subconsciously or consciously?

Implicit Bias is the bias in judgment and/or behavior that results from subtle cognitive processes. As practitioners and scholars, we face many opportunities and challenges in our work with our clients, especially when it comes to our clients judgments and even those judgments that we may make.

What’s Happening and when? We’re specifically inviting you to join ISODC Board Chair, Roland Livingston, and our other partners for the second virtual roundtable where we’ll tap into the power of collaborative conversation to help you explore how implicit bias impacts your work. In short, we’ll meet virtually using your computer, smartphone, or even just your phone; international options to join are available; two sessions available on Apr 4 (9AM and 4PM ET); and, you will get to share your experience and wisdom.  Register here so we know you are coming!

What to expect? Participants are asked to prepare for this virtual dialog by taking at least two of the tests from the Project Implicit Website. Then, on the call, we’ll use the following questions to reflect on what you learned from the tests you took and to guide our virtual discussion:

    • How did the tests impact you? What surprised you? What did you learn about yourself?
    • How might what you have learned impact your role as a consultant, both in managing others' implicit bias or even your own implicit bias about the people with whom you are working?
    • What can you do to work against identified bias(s)? How can we work more collaboratively to help each other be more aware of implicit bias?

Register here to reserve your spot today! Bring your topics, questions, and ideas and let’s create a give-and-take that helps us all leave with something valuable to make our work more successful.

A big thank you to our partners on the ISODC Collaboration Roundtable:

      SAVE THE DATE!

The International Society for Organization Development and The Cooperrider Center for Appreciative Inquiry are pleased to present an Information Exchange focused on Creating Flourishing Organizations Through Trust and Collaboration.

Why are Trust and Collaboration so important in our world today and how can they be used to create flourishing organizations? In this year’s ISODC Information Exchange, we want to explore how we might create or strengthen trust and collaboration together to better create flourishing organizations. We want to continue transforming our organizations for the better, to this end, we look forward to sharing best practices and creating new ones together!

Inspirational questions we hope to explore:

      •    What are the latest research & the best global practices around organizational flourishing?

      •    What are the exciting advancements happening in the fields of trust and collaboration?

      •    What are the stories of inspiration we have and lessons learned about how to create flourishing organizations?

      •    What’s next? How can we evolve our own work and practices to further support organizational flourishing?

Elements: Paper presentations, workshops, lots of conversation.  Keynoter (to be determined), electronic participation for those unable to attend in person.  If you would like to submit a paper or workshop, please let us know by emailing kimjbarker@gmail.com.
